This was our first Applause: The Gaga Brunch and we have previously been to other brunches run by a different company. Donna Marie is an exceptional perfomer, truly top notch and will ALWAYS deliver on vocals, choreo and overall performance. However, we felt the brunch was slightly let down by a few factors. Firstly, its never ideal when the food comes out just as the performer is coming on stage as it takes you away from focusing on the performance. It would be so much better if the food was either before the show starts or during the interval. Secondly, unlike previous brunches where bottles of prosecco are left on tables and then replaced when empty, this time there was one person going around the entire crowd topping up as the show went on. This meant that there was significantly less drink consumed than usual, and whilst I appreciate that nobody wants utter carnage at an event, we ultimately left feeling relatively sober. Lastly, which was the most disappointing element, was the time the show finished, at 15:30. This was by far the shortest brunch I've been to with a performer, which lets down the overall event. Yes the DJ carried on, but as the vast majority of the attendees left immediately, there was little atmosphere to sustain an after party. I'm not suggesting that Donna Marie should perform for longer, but maybe some more games or breaks in the middle would stretch the afternoon out more. Overall, we did have a great time, but if it just went on a bit longer and the drinks were flowing more freely, it would have been near perfect.
